Simon peers out his window. He watches his brother put life jackets and oars into the rowboat at shore.

Simon pulls his curtain shut. He walks to his desk and sits, glancing at two bright orange pet salamanders in a terrarium.

Simon opens a desk drawer filled with plastic cases of dead bugs. He takes out a jar with a hideous giant black beetle crawling inside. Big posters of insects cover his walls.

Simon carefully unscrews the lid of the jar and sprays inside with a bright blue bottle of Windex. The beetle HISSES violently, flailing to avoid the noxious mix.
